Vive le France! Envy ur hols Chris S – very nice, u didn't miss much today.
You would have been OK Ian, but unfortunately it was only a generous 3 star.
I arrived 4 ish and it was blowing hard, so prepared 6.5 / 120L and Nick Icke declined the formula as it was pretty windy / lumpy at high tide.
The poxy wind started dropping as I rigged so rigged 7.5 and the 146L. The wind dropped even further – I had a couple of runs on 7.5 then rigged 8.5.
SW is crap at the dip really Manor was pretty good when I passed by and much cleaner wind. There was no wind near the river channel so stayed towards the bacon butty shop for a much cleaner ride
The 8.5 was OK for a little while but going out was stubborn to plane and to avoid the river mouth which was foaming, you had to pinch high
Coming back with the waves was nice planning and surfing off the waves. It didn’t last long though – with faffing I was out 2hrs with Squiz.
He got going be4 me, so light weights with big kit would have had a decent sail.
Stats
21.16kts speed / dist 10.56nm, but it was hard work with the light wind. Yep will sail Friday – if the wind turns up.
Its interesting because HHA showed 12-16kts during the sailing period, going out I couldn’t feel it but coming back I was travelling...
We beat the wind speed quite easy, so it was all apparent wind sailing.
